NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Police released surveillance images of a man on Saturday who is accused of robbing a 14-year-old and 6-year-old girl while they walked in Brooklyn on Wednesday and choking the younger child.

The stranger, described by police as a 5'8" man between the ages of 25 and 40, approached the girls near Eastern Parkway and Ralph Avenue in Crown Heights at 3:15 p.m. and demanded that the older girl hand over her gold necklace.

When the 14-year-old refused, officials said that the man began to choke the 6-year-old girl with one hand while using the other to rip off her gold necklace. He then snatched the older girl's chain and ran off in an unknown direction.

Medical personnel transported the children to Maimonides Medical Center in stable condition.

The suspect was last seen with his dark hair pulled into a ponytail and was wearing a white t-shirt, black pants and dark shoes while carrying a Target bag. Police said that after the incident, he slipped into a gray hoodie.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
