
NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man was repeatedly stabbed during a mugging near Manhattan’s Bryant Park early Wednesday by a would-be thief who remains at large, police said.
The 58-year-old victim was in the area of 42nd Street and Sixth Avenue at 1 a.m. when another man stabbed him in the back “numerous times” with a small, sharp object, according to cops.
The attacker tried to rob the victim but he was unsuccessful and fled the scene empty-handed, police said. He was last seen headed southbound on Sixth Avenue.
The victim was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where was listed in stable condition.
No description or images of the suspect have been released as the investigation continues.
