Man who mistook Bronx car for rideshare or taxi robbed by occupants

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are searching for two men who robbed a 31-year-old man who entered their vehicle after mistaking it for a rideshare or taxi in the Bronx last month.

The man entered a gold Honda CRV SUV with an exposed tire on the back and a roof rack on May 20 around 4:20 p.m. at the intersection of West Tremont Avenue and Jerome Avenue in Morris Heights, officials said.

When he got inside he found two men were in the vehicle, and one man pulled a gun on the victim before stealing his cell phone and wallet with about $500 in it, according to police.

The robbers drove the victim about 15 minutes away to Yankee Stadium, where he fled.

The victim was not injured during the robbery.
