NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The Manhattan District Attorney’s office is considering prosecuting Steve Bannon for his alleged role in defrauding donors who contributed to a border wall fundraising campaign, according to a report.
Investigators with the DA's office are currently “in early-stage discussions to determine if there’s a state case to be brought against Bannon for his actions in the fundraising campaign,” the Washington Post reported, citing two sources familiar with the matter.
Federal prosecutors in August charged Bannon and three other people with pocketing money from a “We Build The Wall” fundraiser they organized to raise money to construct a wall along the border between the U.S. and Mexico.
Former President Donald Trump, however, pardoned Bannon — his former chief strategist — in the last hours of his presidency last month.
A spokesperson for the DA’s office declined to provide a comment to the outlet.
