NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Authorities are investigating the death of a motorcyclist who did in a head on collision with a yellow taxi in Queens last month, officials said Friday.
At approximately 11:51 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 27, police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Northern Boulevard and 41st Avenue in Dutch Kills.
A preliminary investigation determined that a 47-year-old man was driving a 2023 Toyota Rav4 yellow taxi eastbound in the westbound lane of Northern Boulevard when the vehicle collided head-on with a 2020 Yamaha Motorcycle XMAX 300 driven by a 59-year-old man, just east of 41st Avenue.
The driver of the motorcycle was ejected onto the roadway and sustained head and body trauma injuries. He was identified by police as Antonios Spyropoulos of Queens.
The taxi driver remained at the scene.
EMS transported Spyropoulos to NYC Health and Hospitals / Bellevue where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing by the NYPD Highway District's Investigation Squad.
