NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A hit-and-run driver struck seven pedestrians near Herald Square in Midtown Manhattan late Sunday before getting into a three-car crash on the Long Island Expressway in Queens, where she was taken into custody, police said Monday.
Charges against the 29-year-old New Jersey woman were pending Monday as she was being evaluated at North Shore University Hospital.
She was not intoxicated at the time of the crashes, according to police.
The chaos started shortly before midnight a block north of Herald Square, where the driver ran a red light while turning right from Sixth Avenue to West 36th Street, police said.

While making the illegal turn, she plowed into seven people who were in the crosswalk outsideTaco Bell, according to cops.
Photos show the victims—who range in age from 24 to 61—lying on the street and sidewalk covered in blood. Six of the seven had to be hospitalized for their injuries.
One was taken in serious condition to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
The other five were transported to Bellevue Hospital with less serious injuries, including cuts and bruises.
After hitting the pedestrians, the driver continued eastbound and entered the Queens–Midtown Tunnel, police said.
A short time later, she got into a three-car crash on the Long Island Expressway, near the Clearview Expressway in Auburndale, Queens, according to police. She was taken into custody at the scene.
It's unclear if anyone was seriously injured in the LIE crash.
