The victim told Kevin Hawse, 47, “no” on March 4, 2019 at her apartment on Hutchinson River Parkway near the Einstein Loop North, officials said.

For spurning him, Hawse dragged the victim by her hair out of the apartment, hit her over the head with a gun and then shot her in the chest, according to the DA’s office.

She was treated at Lincoln Hospital, and police arrested Hawse about two months later in Los Angeles.

“The defendant was told by the victim that she wasn’t interested in his advances. For saying no, she was grabbed, hit in the face with a gun, and shot in the chest,” said Clark. “For the defendant’s violent and reprehensible actions, he will be heading to prison.”

A Bronx Supreme Court convicted Hawse of attempted murder and weapons charges on May 20.
