NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey man and woman face charges in the case of a missing New York City teen, who was allegedly sexually assaulted by the man at their home, officials announced Tuesday.
On Sunday, Feb. 23, the NYPD notified the Fort Lee Police Department about a missing child from New York City who was believed to be in the Fort Lee area.
The Fort Lee police located the child, who was between the ages of 13 and 16, in the company of 58-year-old Marc Piovanetti and 50-year-old Jennifer Piovanetti, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Authorities determined that Marc, a stranger to the victim, engaged in conversation with the child on TurnUp, a social media application, and made arrangements to meet.
Marc then allegedly provided the child with marijuana and sexually assaulted the child in his Fort Lee residence between Saturday, Feb. 22 and Sunday, Feb. 23.
Detectives also determined that Jennifer was at home in the same residence at the time of the incident and was aware of the child’s presence, along with another child under the age of 13 who was also there.
Following the investigation, on Sunday, Feb. 23, Marc was arrested in Fort Lee and charged with four counts of second-degree sexual assault, second-degree luring, second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Jennifer was also arrested in Fort Lee and charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Any parent or guardian who determines that their child received inappropriate online communications from Piovanetti is asked to contact the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Tips Line at (201) 226-5532.
