VIDEO: NYPD rescues 'distressed' kayaker off Brooklyn

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A video released by the NYPD shows a kayaker being saved by Air and Sea Rescue officers from a strong current in Mill Basin on Monday.

In the video, the 37-year-old victim can be seen next to a green and blue kayak. Another man is seen paddling alongside him as he struggled to stay above the surface.

The kayaker was rescued and airlifted by the two officers but declined medical attention, according to police.

The rescue comes after several fatal drownings in New York City waters in recent weeks weeks.
