Off-duty NY police officer robbed of badge, wallet in the Bronx

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An off-duty upstate New York police officer was robbed of his badge and wallet while in the Bronx early Sunday, the Daily News reported.

The 36-year-old officer who lives in Middletown and works for the town of Wallkill was near Merritt and Givan Aves. in Co-Op City around 1 a.m. when the incident happened, sources told the outlet.

A gunman stuck up the victim and stole his police badge,  wallet, iPhone, bracelet and watch before fleeing in a black Mercedes Benz, police sources said.

The robbery was the latest in a pattern of similar incidents in the area being investigated by the nearby precinct. Cops say there's been at least 10 similar robberies in the area lately.

No arrests have been made yet and the investigation remains ongoing.
