NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Queens man pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting and murdering a 92-year-old woman in a 2020 Queens attack, according to the Queens District Attorney’s Office.

Reeaz Khan, 24, beat and sexually assaulted Maria Fuertes as she walked near her Richmond Hill home just after midnight in January 2020, officials said.

He left her badly injured lying on the street. She was found by a passerby over two hours later, delirious with hypothermia and naked from the waist down.

Emergency responders brought her to a nearby hospital with fractures to her spine, two rib fractures, bruising around her neck and chest injuries. She later died from blunt force trauma and hypothermia.

Security camera video showed Khan tackling her to the ground and later running away with his pants undone.

“This defendant savagely attacked a defenseless, elderly woman and left her to die on the freezing pavement,” said Queens DA Melinda Katz. “He rightly will be sentenced to a long prison term.”

Khan pleaded guilty to murder and attempted rape.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 6, but the judge already indicated he plans to sentence the defendant to 22 years to life in prison for the murder charge and an additional eight for the attempted rape.
