NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – An argument about a Queens deli's business hours led to a chaotic confrontation in which a man with a stick fended off a knife-wielding assailant who slashed him and stole his slippers, police said.
The NYPD released video of the altercation on Sunday as they continued to search for the suspected slasher in the May 19 altercation in Astoria.
Police said the 60-year-old victim went to a deli located at 31st Street and 38th Avenue around 4 a.m. He was approached by another man, who got into an argument with him about whether the deli was open.
The dispute escalated and the second man pulled out a knife, police said.
The victim grabbed a stick to defend himself as the man began to slash him in the head and arm, according to police.

Video shows the knife-wielding man chasing after the victim in a nearby garage before the struggle spills outside onto a sidewalk, where the victim is knocked to the ground and kicked.
Police said the man stole the victim's slippers from his feet during the attack and then fled.
EMS took the victim to Mount Sinai Hospital Queens with non-life-threatening slash wounds to his right wrist and face, according to police.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
