NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A knife-wielding robber stabbed a man while demanding his wallet on a Greenwich Village street, police said Tuesday as they released photos of the suspect.

The 37-year-old victim was standing on a sidewalk at MacDougal Street and Minetta Lane around 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, when he was attacked, according to the NYPD.

A man with a knife walked up to him, demanded his wallet and then stabbed him in the back before he could even take the wallet, police said.

The would-be thief fled empty-handed and remains at large, according to cops.

The victim was transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was in stable condition.
