NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man who allegedly stabbed another man in the chest during a fight on the Lower East Side over the weekend has been arrested, police said.
Asaun Johnson, 24, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a controlled substance on Wednesday, the NYPD said Thursday.
Attorney information for Johnson, who is homeless, wasn't immediately available.
The 30-year-old victim got into a dispute with Johnson in front of a building on Forsyth Street, between Stanton and East Houston streets, around 11:50 a.m. on Saturday, police said.
As the fight escalated, Johnson stabbed the victim in the chest, the NYPD said. He fled Forsyth Street on foot after the stabbing, according to police.
The victim was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, the NYPD said. He was still in critical condition as of Wednesday, police said.
