NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD is searching for a man wanted for robbing and beating a 91-year-old man in Brooklyn on Monday morning.

Authorities said the incident occurred just before 6:30 a.m. in front of a building on East 14th Street between Avenues I and J in Midwood.
The victim was approached by the suspect as he sat on a stoop waiting for a ride to say morning prayers at synagogue, according to ABC 7.
The suspect then reportedly demanded money, and when the victim gave him $4, the suspect went through his pockets and hit him with a cane in the head.
ABC 7 reports the victim suffered cuts and bruising. He had his eye stitched up at a local hospital, and his son told the outlet that he is recovering and healing at home.
The Flatbush Shomrim, a neighborhood safety patrol, is working to help capture the assailant while releasing surveillance footage of the brutal assault.
