NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A 78-year-old man was beaten on a Park Slope street by a crook who stole a cigarette right out of his hand, police said.
The NYPD released images Friday of the suspect they're after in the Christmas Day attack at 19th Street and Fifth Avenue.
The victim was in front of a corner deli at 8:50 p.m. when his attacker came up from behind and repeatedly punched him in the head, causing him to fall to the ground, police said.
As the victim was lying on the sidewalk, the thief snatched a cigarette and some cash from his hand, according to cops.
The victim wasn't seriously hurt and declined further medical attention at the scene, police said.
The suspect was last seen walking southbound on Fifth Avenue.
