NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – A 4-year-old boy was dragged to the ground as a thief pulled his mother’s hair and snatched her necklace in broad daylight on a Bronx street last week, police said Friday as they released video of a suspect.
The 24-year-old mom and son were in front of an apartment building at the Grand Concourse and E. 182nd Street in Fordham Heights around 5:20 p.m. last Wednesday when the man came up from behind them, video shows.
The man grabbed the mom by her hair, dragging her and her son to the ground, police said.
He then ripped a chain worth $6,500 off of her neck before running away, hopping on a green moped and fleeing southbound down the Grand Concourse, according to police.
The mom and son suffered minor scratches to their hands and knees. The injuries didn’t require medical attention, police said.
Police believe the suspect is between 18 and 25 years old.
