VIDEO: Jewish man attacked in Brooklyn, NYPD Hate Crimes searches for suspect

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A Jewish man was attacked in broad daylight in Brooklyn this week by a man who spewed an anti-Semitic remark at him, police said Friday as they released video of the attack and a suspect.

The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the attack, which happened near Martin Luther King Jr. Place and Marcy Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant on Monday morning.

Police said the 25-year-old victim was approached around 11:35 a.m. by another man, who made an anti-Semitic statement and punched him in the chest.

The man then broke a piece of furniture and threw it at the victim before fleeing, police said.

Video released by the NYPD appears to show the suspect charging at the victim on a sidewalk.

The victim suffered pain to his back and chest, according to police, who said he refused medical attention.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he had directed the state police's Hate Crimes Task Force to assist the NYPD in its investigation.

"I am disgusted to learn of yet another attack against a member of our Jewish community in broad daylight. This is anti-Semitism, plain and simple. It's abhorrent and unacceptable, and these hateful acts have absolutely no place in New York," Cuomo said.

"To the Jewish community of New York, we are with you. We will fight to ensure you can walk safely down the streets of our state anytime, anywhere. Hate will never win here," the governor said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
