NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man was caught on camera almost setting himself on fire as he burned down a booth at a Brooklyn Italian American festival.
Footage released by the Fire Department Sunday shows the man pouring an "ignitable liquid" on a ticket booth at the 18th annual Feast of Santa Rosalia in Bensonhurst on Aug. 24, the FNDY said.
The man then appears to light the booth on fire, with a large burst of flames nearly engulfing him, the video shows.
Adnan Ali Hussein, 28, was arrested Sept. 2 in connection with the incident, Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro announced Sunday. Hussein has been charged with Arson, Reckless Endangerment and Criminal Mischief, the FDNY said.
"Arson is not only a serious crime but also an extremely reckless act that can have devastating effects on the entire community," Nigro said in a statement. "Our Fire Marshals quickly apprehended this individual before he caused any further damage or harm to New Yorkers."
