NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The beautiful visual effect created when the sunset aligns with Manhattan's east/west street grid will bathe the city in gold Wednesday and Thursday.

Viewers can watch as the sunlight reflects off the metal and glass of Manhattan skyscrapers around 8:20 p.m. both days.

The phenomenon takes place twice a year around the end of May and mid-July.

The best spots to witness the effect are on 14th, 23rd, 34th, 42nd and 57th streets in Manhattan.

The Tudor City Overpass in Manhattan and Hunter's Point South Park in Long Island City are also good viewing spots.
