NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A woman was forced to flee a subway train near Union Square after a man on an anti-Asian rant threatened to harm her, police said Friday.

The NYPD's Hate Crime Task Force is investigating last Saturday afternoon's confrontation on a southbound Q train.

The 59-year-old victim boarded the train at the 14th Street–Union Square stop around 12:15 p.m.

As she was on the moving train, a man came up and started hurling anti-Asian insults at her, police said.

He also made threats to physically harm her, according to cops.

She was able to get off the train safely and was not injured, while the man remained on the train.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
