NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A driver in a city Department of Environmental Protection truck fatally struck a woman in Queens on Tuesday morning, police said.

The 42-year-old victim was crossing at 80th Street and 57th Avenue in Elmhurst around 8:30 a.m. when she was hit by a 2022 Ford F-750 truck, according to police.


The 38-year-old driver hit her as he was making a right turn to the southbound lanes of 80th Street, police said.

The yet-identified victim suffered trauma to her head and body.

EMS rushed her to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver stayed at the scene, police said. His connection to the DEP wasn't immediately clear.

No arrests were immediately reported as the NYPD investigation continues.
