NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — The NYPD released photos on Sunday of a woman wanted for scrawling an antisemitic statement near Yeshiva University in Upper Manhattan.

On Jan. 15, at around 2:35 p.m., the suspect scribbled an antisemitic statement with a marker on an elevator wall at 497 West 182nd St., an apartment building in Washington Heights, police said.

The apartment building is right next door to a Yeshiva University building.

The woman is described as having a slim build, and she was last seen wearing a checker-patterned jacket, green beanie, blue surgical mask, long earrings and camo pants.

Following the incident, officials said that she fled in an unknown direction.

The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident as a case of criminal mischief as a hate crime.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.

This story was updated after the NYPD clarified Monday that the graffiti was antisemitic in nature, not anti-Islamic, as police initially indicated.
