NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The Brooklyn bakery worker found lifeless inside a walk-in freezer died of an accident, the city medical examiner's office said Monday.
Mahamadou Dansogo, 33, died of blunt force injuries to the head, torso and extremities in last Thursday's tragic accident at Beigel's Bakery, the ME told the Daily News.
The horrifying discovery was made by a coworker around 8 a.m. at the bakery known for its famous black-and-white cookies, which is located at Avenue D and East 56th Street in an industrial corner of East Flatbush.
Dansogo was caught in the turning blades of the machinery and was stuck for five hours.
"The machine killed him," his uncle Tidiane Wague told the outlet Monday. "They don’t tell me how the machine did that. The autopsy come out — no drugs involved, no drinks."
The Mali native, who had five children, had only been working at the bakery for five months when he was found dead.
"He just came to the United States," Wague added. "His wife is there [in Mali], mother is there."
Dansogo lived with relatives in Bedford-Stuyvesant and worked to support his family back home, according to the report.
"I talked to his wife, I talked to his mother," his uncle said. "They are doing okay, but when somebody dies like this … what God gives, God takes back."
David Greenberger, Beigel's manager, said last week that the bakery was "devastated by the loss of our employee in this accident."
"The family has been notified and we have extended our deepest condolences to them," he said. "This is an ongoing situation and we are cooperating with all investigations."
The bakery is offering grief counseling for workers and Dansogo's family.
