CROMWELL, Conn. (1010 WINS) A 19-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly drove 132 mph on Interstate 91 in Connecticut and evaded police because he was late for a job interview.

A trooper in the area of Exit 22 in Cromwell observed a Mercedes E300 traveling at in excess of 100 mph, and its speed was later confirmed to be 132 mph by a speed laser unit, authorities said.

When the trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop with lights and sirens, the driver sped away while "making unsafe lane changes," according to officials.

Due to the hazard posed to traffic, the trooper stopped attempting to follow the vehicle.

Police later determined that the driver at the time of the incident was 19-year-old Azmir Djurkovic.

Djurkovic admitted to driving and told police that he didn’t stop because he was late for a job interview.

He was arrested and is facing charges including reckless driving, disobeying signal of an officer, failure to maintain lane, passing on the right, improper turn, passing at an unsafe distance, engaging police in a pursuit and interfering with an officer.
