WOODBURY, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey dad has been charged after he allegedly dropped his infant son on the floor and failed to seek medical help, which led to the boy's death on Thursday, authorities said.
Douglas Morgan, 33, of Woodbury, is charged with second-degree reckless manslaughter, court documents reviewed by NJ.com show.
Woodbury police responded to Morgan's home shortly after 7:30 a.m. Thursday "in reference to the death of an infant," according to the probable cause affidavit.
Responding officers learned that the infant had been taken to Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 8:30 a.m.
An autopsy determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head, and the manner of death was homicide, the affidavit said.
Morgan admitted to investigators that he dropped his son and failed to seek medical attention for his injuries, police said in the affidavit.
He is being held in the Salem County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing.
