HOWELL, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A New Jersey State Police trooper was sentenced to jail time on Friday in a 2022 groping of a teenage girl at a Pennsylvania hotel, authorities said.
David DeJesus, 46, of Howell was sentenced to a minimum of 60 days of jail time for second degree misdemeanor false imprisonment, and one year of concurrent probation for a third degree misdemeanor charge of furnishing liquor to a minor, a court official said.
DeJesus was accused of groping a 14-year-old in his room at the Ramada Hotel & Conference Center in State College, PA in April 2022.
According to officials, both DeJesus and the team were in town for a wrestling tournament.
The teen girl told authorities that she first interacted with DeJesus when she saw him drinking near the pool at hotel and asked him for some alcohol, court documents said.
DeJesus gave the teen an alcoholic beverage and invited her into his hotel room, where she consumed a bottle of beer that he also gave her, the document added.
DeJesus was hired by the State Police in 2004 and remains suspended without pay.
