NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man was arrested for falsely claiming he was carjacked and assaulted by two people on Long Island, Nassau County Police said.
Enrique Hurtado Mazada, from Hicksville, had reported that on Feb. 26 at around 3 a.m. in East Meadow he had been carjacked and assaulted by two unknown individuals, which left him without a car and several injuries.
After a thorough investigation, detectives determined that Mazada was lying and had "completely fabricated his claim."
He was arrested on March 8.
Mazada is charged with falsely reporting an incident and making a punishable false statement.
