
EAST MEADOW, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Police are investigating an alleged shoplifter that rammed a security guard at a Long Island Stop & Shop with a shopping cart Tuesday evening.
At about 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call for a larceny in progress at a Stop & Shop located at 2525 Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow.
Upon arrival, officers were informed that a woman had selected items worth approximately $360 and attempted to leave the store without making a payment.
When the woman was confronted by an asset protection agent, she struck him with a shopping cart then entered a white suburban style vehicle and fled in an unknown direction, detectives said.
There were no injuries were reported.
The woman was last seen wearing a light colored t-shirt, black shorts and flip flops.
