WESTBURY, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Officials are searching for a jewelry thief wanted in a robbery at a store Monday evening on Long Island, authorities said.
According to detectives, just after 5:30 p.m., the suspect entered the Sak's Off 5th Avenue store located at 1070 Old Country Rd. in Westbury and walked over to the jewelry counter.
The employee, 50, observed the suspect reach over the counter, open the jewelry case and begin to remove assorted gold jewelry.
The employee attempted to close the case but the suspect forced it open causing the employee to sustain a laceration on her arm.
The suspect continued to remove additional jewelry and then exited the store without paying for the merchandise, police said.
The suspect was observed entering a four-door black colored Mazda CX5 and fled eastbound on Old Country Road.

The female employee victim refused medical attention at the scene.
The suspect was last seen wearing a black colored jacket, blue jeans, white t-shirt and light-colored mask.
