The woman had just returned to her home on Bull Road in Schuyler around 10:30 a.m. after going grocery shopping with her daughter, according to officials.

While the toddler played with an outdoor playset, her mom carried groceries inside the house. After taking all of the groceries inside, the woman got back in the car and pulled it forward to park as her daughter ran in front of the vehicle, police said.

The woman unknowingly drove over her daughter as she pulled the car forward. She jumped out of the car immediately after hearing and feeling the impact, cops said.

When the mom got out of her car, she saw her young daughter lying unresponsive in the driveway. She immediately picked her daughter up and brought her inside the house to render aid while calling 911.

The toddler was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica where she was pronounced dead.

While the investigation is ongoing, no charges are expected against the mom.
