
NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- The rainy, dreary, windy and cool weather Friday carried into Saturday, but some sun should peak through for Mother’s Day on Sunday.

The rain that moved into the city on Friday morning ramped up later in the day and continued Saturday along with strong wind gusts and the risk of flooding, according to AccuWeather.

Up to 2 inches of rain is expected over Friday and Saturday from a system that stretches all the way west to Ohio. Pockets of rain could be heavy at times. It will also be cool, with temps 4 to 8 degrees below normal to start the weekend.

Saturday is cloudy, windy and chilly with additional rainfall and a risk of street and highway flooding.
Wind gusts could top 40 mph—and even near 50 mph—on Saturday, increasing the threat of coastal flooding.
A coastal flood watch will be in effect for parts of southern New Jersey, particularly along the shore, Saturday evening through late Saturday night, the National Weather Service said.

Highs will struggle to get into the low 50s as RealFeels hover in the 40s.
Rain may linger Sunday morning, but some sun should peak through for Mother’s Day. It’s otherwise windy and cool with a high of about 56.
Temps begin warming on Monday. It will be drier and near 61 under partly sunny skies.
