
As part of National Missing Persons Day, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office released a reminder for awareness for the regular issue.
“According to the NamUS database, there are approximately 600,000 people declared missing every year across the world,” Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt said in a press release. “In recognition of National Missing Persons Day, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to draw attention to investigations into Missing Persons cases inside of the county.”
The law enforcement agency is currently looking into five separate missing persons cases, which most recently included a case of two teenage girls reported missing in Seneca on Thursday who were later found safely late Friday morning.
The other five missing persons cases still under investigation date as recently as two years ago and as far back as 36 years ago:
• Joshua Scott Ivester – missing since February 15th, 2021
• Pamela Faith Roach – missing since February 4th, 2019
• Laura Ann Anders – missing since January 2nd, 2019
• Sheila Ann Carver – missing since June 16th, 1998
• Jimmy Whitfield – missing since March 7th, 1987
