Charlie James leads the conversation weekday afternoons on The Voice of the Carolinas, News/Talk 98.9 WORD. Charlie is no stranger to the Carolinas having lived in Columbia and Charleston. And now, Charlie is making the Upstate his home.
Charlie is a 30-year radio veteran with numerous broadcasting awards to his credit, including three South Carolina Broadcasters (SCBA) Star Award for Radio Show of the Year (2019, 2016, 2007), Best News Talk Show of the Year (2018), and The Academy of Country Music (ACM) Award for Radio Personality of the Year, as well as two Marconi Award Nominations.
Charlie’s ability to listen and comment with caring, common sense and humor has earned him a loyal audience wherever he’s been. He’ll working tirelessly to bring listeners, near and far, the latest news and information that directly affects them.
When he’s not behind the microphone, Charlie is a voice-over artist who can be heard on many commercials, corporate presentations, and audio books. Originally from Augusta, Georgia, Charlie is a rabid Bulldogs fans, loves losing golf balls on the links and leads the discussion of the hottest topics weekday afternoons on News/Talk 98.9 WORD, The Voice of the Carolinas.
