Dom Giordano, WPHT host and former teacher, has dedicated much of his daily show toward parents who are taking it into their own hands to push back against school boards that have a negative impact on their children. This has culminated in a weekly podcast on education, Readin', Writin', and Reason, which has allowed wonderful relationships to develop between Giordano, educators, and parents throughout the country who are speaking out against overbearing school boards.
First, Angela Morabito, spokesperson for the Defense of Freedom Institute and former spokesperson for the Department of Education during the Trump administration, returns to the Reading, Writing, and Reason to discuss the controversy centered on transgendered UPenn swimmer Lia Thomas. Morabito tells of the Biden administration trend toward supporting transgendered athletes, and warns that Title IX itself is at risk at the administration considers whether trans athletes should be allowed to compete in their selected division.
Then, Dom Giordano welcomes in Bruce Chambers, former school board member in the Great Valley School District. Last week, Giordano was joined by Linda Stein, editor of the Delaware Valley Journal, who told us about teacher whistleblowers who came forward to tell about an initiative by the school district to hide from parents students who would like to change their identity. In the district policy, teachers are instructed to stay mum when a student would like to be called a different name or gender, giving specific instructions on how to hide this from parents. Chambers discusses the legality of such an initiative, and Giordano points out how this both hurts relationships between parents and children and the potential for learning.
