Severe weather ripped across the Mid-South Friday leaving destruction from Little Rock to middle Tennessee and north Mississippi. The storm has left many people without power, downed trees and damage to their homes. Many roads in Wynne, Arkansas and Covington TN are impassable. Drivers are asked to avoid these areas as clean up begins. Several organizations have set up command posts for collection drives and relief around the Mid-South. Here’s how you can help:

·         The American Red Cross is assisting in recovery efforts in Wynne, Arkansas. To make donations or to volunteer at the shelter in Wynne, go to www.redcross.org.

·         The Salvation Army of Jackson is assisting with relief efforts in Covington, TN with food, emotional and spiritual support for storm victims and first responders. Find out how you can help at www.helpsalvationarmy.org

·         Covington, TN: Saturday and Sunday (April 1-2)- Cobb Parr Park in Covington. Collecting water and non-perishable food, baby necessities, snacks and cleaning supplies, pet food, masks and gloves (no clothing). Sunday volunteers will organize to help with clean up in the area at 10 a.m.

·         Wynne, AR: Donation center set up on 187 Murray Ave. on Saturday (April 1).  Any hot food donations should be taken to Wynne Junior High School. Shelters are set up at Wynne Baptist Church, First Assembly, Camp Calvary, Harmony Health Clinic and Wynne Junior High School.  Hot Food will be served at Odell McCallum Center and Wynne Baptist Church and Wynne Junior High School.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the storms this weekend from Little Rock to Wynne Arkansas, Hernando, Mississippi to Covington, Tennessee and throughout the Mid-South. And we salute the first responders, volunteers and hometown heroes who assisted in rescue efforts following the storm. We will update this page as information becomes available. Stay safe.
