The Memphis Grizzlies look to bounce back tonight after a tough loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night. Memphis battled throughout but ultimately couldn’t keep pace down the stretch, falling to Minnesota as the Timberwolves pulled away late behind a strong offensive push. The loss continues a difficult stretch for the Grizzlies as they try to regroup during the final portion of the regular season.
There was positive news for Memphis off the court, however. Rookie center Zach Edey underwent successful surgery this week, according to team reports. The procedure went as planned, and the organization is optimistic about his recovery moving forward. Edey, the towering 7-foot-4 big man, has been viewed as an important long-term piece for the franchise thanks to his interior presence, rebounding ability, and rim protection. While his immediate focus will be on rehabilitation, the successful surgery is an encouraging step in getting him back on the floor.
Tonight the Grizzlies return home to FedExForum to take on the Portland Trail Blazers. Memphis will look to respond with energy and tighten up defensively against a Portland team capable of scoring in bunches.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:30 PM on 92.9 FM ESPN, Wednesday (3/4).
