Henigan Named to Maxwell Award Watch List
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis junior quarterback Seth Henigan was named to the Maxwell Award Watch List on Monday, the Maxwell Club announced. The Maxwell Award has been presented to the College Player of the Year since 1937 and is named in honor of Robert “Tiny” Maxwell who was a former standout at Swarthmore College and a renowned sportswriter and football official.
In 2022, Henigan completed 286-of-446 passes for 22 touchdowns, while also rushing for 289 yards and four scores. The junior will be the youngest third year starting quarterback (20 years old) in the FBS this coming season.
For his career, Henigan ranks fifth all-time in Memphis history in attempts (839), completions (521), passing yards (6,893), passing touchdowns (47) and completion percentage (.621).
Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced November 13, 2023, while the three finalists for the Maxwell Award will be unveiled November 28, 2023. The winners of the 87th Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on Dec. 7, 2023. The formal presentations of the Maxwell Award will be made at the Maxwell Football Club Awards in March 2024.
