On November 4, 2025, the College Football Playoff (CFP) Selection Committee unveiled its first Top 25 rankings of the season. The undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes (8-0) claimed the No. 1 spot, followed by Indiana Hoosiers (9-0) at No. 2 and Texas A&M Aggies (8-0) at No. 3. The new “record strength” metric played a major role in the rankings, rewarding teams for quality wins and penalizing soft-schedule victories. With the expanded 12-team playoff format in play, this initial ranking sets the stage for seeding and matchups heading into December.
The Memphis Tigers were not ranked in the Top 25 by the committee, but are the projected "Group of 5" team in the initial bracket (#12 projection).
The Memphis Tigers host Tulane on Friday (11/7) at 8:00 p.m. at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium on ESPN.
