Bob Nightengale: Braves' bats clicking in October is "all you care about"

Bob Nightengale tells The Morning Shift that the Braves can still be very dangerous in the postseason as long as they get hot at the right time.

Due to injuries, down years for some of their key contributors on offense, and just bad luck the Atlanta Braves haven’t been able to kick it into high gear this season, and have really just been spinning their wheels all year long. After last night’s 10-0 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers Braves’ Manager Brian Snitker says the team needs more “consistency” as well.

However, despite what’s just been a real grind of a 2024 season for the Braves, Audacy MLB Insider and MLB Columnist for USA Today Bob Nightengale told The Morning Shift that the only thing that matters for the Braves is having the “bats clicking in October”.

“Well I think you just kind of hope it clicks at the right time. Remember last year Philadelphia was rolling, they go into Arizona during the playoffs all of sudden they stopped hitting. You look at that Phillies lineup how loaded that thing is, and they’ve been struggling lately since the All-Star break. I think it’s just one of those things, but those guys in that lineup they can click at any time, and all you care about is them clicking in October, so I mean obviously you know Austin Riley is going to hit and Olson and you know Murphy on and on and on, so it should just get better and better.”

The Braves experienced first hand what getting hot at the right time can result in back in 2021 when they went on a World Series run after a tumultuous regular season just like they’re going through now. Time will tell if the Braves will be able to harness any of that 2021 magic, but the main ingredient to the Braves’ 2024 World Series recipe is without a doubt having the “bats clicking in October”.
