Kyle Muller was called up to replace Bryce Elder in the Braves series against the Dodgers on Sunday and could not deliver. Elder allowed seven runs--all earned--and walked six batters in just 2.2 innings of work.

Charlie Morton has also struggled to start the season. In his last appearance, the 38-year-old veteran allowed three runs and four walks in 2.1 innings. Through 12.2 innings this season, Morton holds a 7.00 ERA and 1.78 WHIP and has walked 10 batters.

How big of a concern is the Braves starting rotation?

"I am interested to see what the Braves do with this rotation in the short term because they've got this double-header against the Mets coming up tomorrow," 92.9 The Game Braves reporter Joe Patrick told the Midday Show.

The good thing for the Braves in the short term, or at least in their series against the Mets, is that they'll be sending out their best arms--Max Fried, Kyle Wright, Ian Anderson and Morton.

"There's still obviously open questions ... and I don't know what they're going to do."

Touki Toussaint and Tucker Davidson are both options Joe mentioned that could get another opportunity with the big club.

"They need somebody to step up. They need somebody to fill in this last spot in the rotation."

Is it too early for Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos to start looking around for other arms?

"I don't think it's too early for the Braves to be looking around," Joe continued. "I do wonder how easy or difficult it is to make a move at this point in the season where--just teams don't really know where they are, who they are, what they plan to be this year."

Joe also mentioned the Braves could use their young arms, that are not necessarily ready right now, but could still be used on the trade block to bring in a veteran arm.
