Since his return from a second ACL injury, Atlanta Braves MVP outfielder, Ronald Acuna Jr. has been a much-needed spark to the Atlanta lineup, batting .392 with an 1.191 OPS through 79 at bats and has found himself among top vote getters for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game.
And while Acuna Jr. appears to be well on his way to getting back to pre-injury form, which he was on pace to earning himself a big payday, on Wednesday, 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes shared his thoughts on why he believes Acuna Jr. may have missed his window to cash in on his talents.
“You have two years of injuries with Acuna that have set him back,” Dukes said as he responded to a listener who asked when the Braves’ All-Star will get a contract which mirrors that of Juan Soto. “I’m going to tell you that if those injuries don’t hold him back, he’s demanding a new deal,” Dukes added in regards to his reasoning for believing Acuna Jr. is likely to have to settle for a lessor contract when the time comes.
