It is game week for the Atlanta Falcons as planning for their season opener against their division rival, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, is underway and they begin what is expected to be the Michael Penix Jr. era.
And while Penix Jr. is believed to lead the Falcons to having one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL this season, the loss of Kaleb McGary may cause for a rough takeoff to the start of the season and on Tuesday, former Atlanta Falcons quarterback and Falcons Radio Network analyst, Dave Archer, joined 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bell to explain why he believes offensive coordinator, Zac Robinson, may have one of the most important job on Sunday
“It’s a key story in the game Carl. In all honesty, I think it’s the most important story on the offensive side of the football,” Archer said as he explained Robinson will have to call a “really good game” in order to set Penix Jr. up for a successful start to the season. “He’s going to have to take care of his young quarterback, get him off to a good start,” Archer said, adding that he believes it will be just as important for Robinson to be able to help Penix Jr. quickly get over mistakes.
“And what happens if he does struggle in first couple series or so and he’s a little bit erratic throwing the football? What does he do to settle him down? So, Zac Robinson is going to play a huge role,” Archer said of the Falcons offensive coordinator in working with Penix Jr. on Sunday.
