Falcons are still in Trey Hendrickson sweepstakes despite Leonard Floyd signing

Yesterday the Atlanta Falcons signed veteran defensive end Leonard Floyd to a one-year 10 million dollar deal, and earlier today The Morning Shift explained why this signing won’t impact the Falcons pursuit of Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson.

When Beau Morgan asked Mike Johnson if he thinks the Falcons are still in the Trey Hendrickson business Mike said “I think they have to be”.

Beau agrees and talks about how the Falcons could have the combination of Trey Hendrickson and Arnold Ebiketie on opposite sides of the defensive line as the three technique guys with their hand in the dirt, and Leonard Floyd and Bralen Trice on opposite sides of the defensive line as the outside linebacker, standing up, two technique edge rushers.

The Falcons have the draft capital it would take to get Hendrickson, and they still have moves they can make such as releasing David Onyemata, extending Jessie Bates, and other moves that would create the salary cap space it would take to sign Hendrickson to a long term deal after they traded for him.

Time will tell if the Falcons can pull off this trade, but the Leonard Floyd signing should not impact their pursuit of Trey Hendrickson at all.
