The Atlanta Falcons have accumulated 68 sacks over the last three seasons. The Philadelphia Eagles had 70 sacks last season alone.
Now, the Falcons don’t have to sack the quarterback 70 times a season to have their defense considered as one of the better defenses. But over the past few seasons the Falcons defense has lacked sacks and lacked a certain edge you would like your defense to have.
Early Monday on The Morning Shift, Falcons safety Jaylinn Hawkins joined the show and explained why this Falcons defense won’t lack any edge, and told the crew what he expects the identity of the Falcons defense to be.
“We want to be relentless for sure, and we want to be a ball-hawking, relentless, dog, stop the run, grimy, turnt D, and we just want to be an overall shutdown D,” said Hawkins.
With all of the new pieces the Falcons brought in this offseason who have shown that they know how to get sacks, they know how to be relentless, they know how to stop the run, and they know how to be grimy. The Falcons defense this year should be closer to 40 sacks than 20 sacks.
