The Hawks have now fallen down three games to one in their first round series with the Heat and Trae Young had his second game of the series where he failed to score double digits. Dukes & Bell talked about why Young hasn’t played well and how much blame does the superstar deserve?
Carl said he feels that Trae is pressing right now.
“We don’t have the necessary help to give Trae Young that he needs to be successful, every star has a challenge that they have to go through when you’re trying to establish yourself as one of the elite premier players in the league,” Dukes said. “For Trae right now what’s happening is these four games he’s had a game where he scored eight points and went 0-7 from behind the arc and then last night he scored nine points and went 3-10, he’s forcing the issue because he feels like he has to do this.”
Dukes said that Hawks coach Nate McMillan can do more to help free Trae up.
“My biggest thing with Trae right now is take some of the pressure off of him Nate, run him around, let him run off some of these screens and run some of these guys around to free himself up. If you think Trae can only shoot off the dribble you’re mistaken, he can catch and shoot, he can be freed up and do other things offensively to create for his teammates but right now it’s like all of the pressure is on his back because he’s not getting any help.”
