Atlanta sports fans have had their fare share of negativity in regards to their sports teams including the Atlanta Braves, who are having their worst season since 2017. And while mathematically still eligible to reach the playoffs, Atlanta, who has played better of late with a 16-16 record since the All-Star break and have won 11 of their last 14 games, will likely miss the postseason for the first time since 2017.
And while there may not be much optimism for the remainder of the Braves' season, their play of hope have given fans some hope in regards to looking towards next season, however on Thursday, Atlanta announced third baseman, Austin Riley, underwent core injury surgery and will miss the remainder of the season and expected to be ready for spring training.
"In a season where the Braves have been decimated by injuries across the board, you could argue the cherry on top of the injury sundae is Austin Riley not available for the final five weeks," 92-9 The Game's Mike Bell said as he and cohost Carl Dukes reacted to the news of Riley's season ending surgery.
"Austin Riley next season, bold and fearless prediction, will come back and have an MVP type season next season," Dukes said as he shared why he believes Riley will be able to bounce from "dealing some with some of this stuff," which he believes hampered the Braves' third baseman all season, believing he had not been "100 percent".
