There was a bit of shock on Wednesday afternoon when UGA announced that WR George Pickens had suffered an ACL injury during a practice session.
The immediate expectations would be that Pickens would not only be out for the entire season, but could be done at UGA as he'll be draft eligible by the time his rehab is complete.
Injury expert Will Carroll, who has looked at the timeline to return from ACL injuries for football players, explains why Pickens return is extremely unlikely.
“This is a 6-9 month injury, there could be change to have him at the end of the season but trying to push his way back, I don’t see it,” says Carroll. “Tons of players have had this at this level. He’ll be able to come back, but this year it would be really tight. For Georgia, it’s a lost season.”
It seems at this point the only real question left to ask is will Pickens return to UGA after his injury or head straight to the NFL as many expect him to.
