On Monday Andy & Randy were reacting to the news that Georgia Tech is firing Head Football Coach Geoff Collins and Athletic Director Todd Stansbury after the Yellow Jackets started 1-3 on the college football season and coming off a 27-10 loss to the University of Central Florida (UCF) Knights.
Collins was let go just a few weeks after the Nebraska Cornhuskers let go of their Head Football Coach, Scott Frost. Both Nebraska and Georgia Tech are programs trying to rekindle some old magic having both won national championships during the 1990’s.
So the conversation turned to the future of these two programs which led to the question, what's a better college football head coaching job right now: Georgia Tech or Nebraska?
“Nebraska because of the unlimited resources that they have. They are going to have a loyal fan base, which they do. You can actually recruit nationally being from Nebraska…I’m going to go with Nebraska,” Randy replied when asked which program is a better job.
“It’s just so hard for me to admit or accept or understand how that could be true. I guess all the points you make, make sense but recruit nationally to Nebraska? Now? Maybe you used to be able to. Nobody is going there unless you are from close to here. Maybe you can get some lineman. Skill positions? I don’t know,” Andy replied to Randy’s response.
“I know that Geoff Collins tried this and it didn’t work but it just seems like being in downtown Atlanta and using that as an advantage should be something that matters, it just should. It should matter! This is Atlanta, it’s Lincoln, Nebraska,” Andy added.
“I’m going to die on that hill that Georgia Tech should be a good program and they are just not right now,” Andy added.
Andy & Randy also went on to talk about the Auburn job opening up soon (presumably) and how the Auburn job stacks up against Georgia Tech and Nebraska.
Georgia Tech travels to #24 Pittsburgh this Saturday October 1st as the Yellow Jackets and Panthers meet at 8pm on the ACC Network. \
