On Monday, former California State Controller Betty Yee announced she would be dropping out of the governor’s race.
“To my family, especially my siblings, it's emotional and financial and support and sacrifice in all ways,” she said. “I just thank them. None of them were particularly political. They vote, but to see firsthand, you know, their older sister embark on this journey was just something that I was so proud to share with them.”
Yee said she came to the decision to drop out after donors from her own community that she relied on were “not forthcoming” and that she didn’t have “the resources that I needed to get to June.”
She also said that she had not yet decided which Democratic candidate she would endorse going forward.
